PASSENGER INFORMATION:
ADULT DOGS:
Tips on how to handle flight risk dogs & what to do if a dog gets away!  Please clip a regular leash to their harness & use a slip lead threading it through the hoops on the harness for added protection. Please be careful when handling them.  When possible, crate them in the car.  BTW, it is always good to have a pop-lid can of Vienna sausages or smelly cheap canned cat food.  Maybe even O' Roy which we would never normally feed a dog but smells great to a scared dog & can be used to lure a dog back.  Please remember to NEVER chase the dog if a dog gets away.  If the group can not catch the dog right away, call the monitor AND local animal control.  You will be advised further from there.

PUPPIES:
Parvo Prevention:  ALWAYS clean your crates with bleach before using them!!!!  Please make sure you have bleached out any crates you use.  Please bleach any hard surfaces in your vehicle pups/dogs may have touched.  Please do NOT let any pup under 6 months no matter what their size touch the ground.  Please always wear medical gloves.  And please bring lots of towels & newspapers with you.  You can use the newspaper to line the ground if you have a pen to put the pups in.  You can use a towel ALONG WITH your medical gloves to pick up pups and carry or move them.  If you wrap them in a towel when you do that, you don't have to worry as much about contaminating your clothes.  Be sure to change towels between litters just like you should change your gloves.  The towel should not substitute for the gloves.  Do not use soft sided crates for puppies.  Please also drape a towel or sheet over puppy crates when you have loaded a litter of pups & BEFORE loading the next litter so that a protective barrier is created to help prevent the spread of parvo, kennel cough, etc.  Please only give the puppies Nutri-Cal if they are lethargic.  Since it is made primarily corn starch, it can make a puppy sick if given too often.  See the attached "Transport Guidelines" when you receive the final for more information.

********************  DISCLAIMER  ********************
All traveling with HC, vetting records and are UTD on vaccinations in accordance with state and federal laws.
I am dependent on what the senders tell me about our passengers' temperaments. The very nature of rescue transport creates some risk for those who participate; even a good-natured animal may find it stressful to be passed from stranger to stranger and cooped up with other unfamiliar animals, and therefore may act in uncharacteristic ways.
As a Volunteer Transport Coordinator neither I nor anyone associated with this transport can accept liability for any accidents or incidents that may occur during the transport.
By agreeing to transport you acknowledge that risks are involved and agree not hold anyone involved responsible should an incident occur. All rescues have been screened and approved. Please note that passengers may change, and that passenger descriptions are from the sending contacts and may be subject to change. We do our best to ensure that all animals are healthy and of sound temperament, but please keep in mind that transport is stressful and can cause previously unknown health/behavior problems to surface.

NURSING MOMS WITH PUPS & PREGNANT MOTHERS:
Nursing mom & young (4 weeks & younger) pups: Moms with nursing pups will come in a crate they are to stay in for the whole trip.  PLEASE MAKE SURE THE CRATE WILL FIT IN YOUR VEHICLE GIVEN THE CRATE MEASUREMENTS. Moms can come out of the crate at the stops to go to the bathroom or just for a break from the pups.  Be aware that some moms will be fine on transport & having people around their pups but others may not understand the situation and will be protective of their pups.  If a mom does not want to come out during a stop that is fine.  However, if the mom does come out for a bit, you NEED to wipe her paws off with a baby wipe or alcohol wipe BEFORE mom gets back in with her pups in case there was something on the ground she could have picked up.  Please provide the moms with food & water at each stop.  Food & water can be provided during the drive if you can keep the bowls attached to the crate door so puppies don’t accidentally get in them.  Please do NOT handle the pups except to count them & make sure they are ok.  YOU MUST MEDICAL WEAR GLOVES WHEN HANDLING THE PUPS! Mom will feed the pups so please do not feed them or give them Nutri-Cal unless otherwise instructed to do so.

********************  DISCLAIMER  ********************
